Murwillumbah is located in the heart of Tweed Valley, a short drive from Tweed Heads and the Pacific Highway. It is surrounded by the remnant rim of the Mt Warning volcano on the banks of the Tweed River. The town is renowned for its attractive scenery and is often referred to as the “prettiest town in Australia�. As such it offers a wonderful escape from the high intesity tourist bussel of the Gold Coast.
Many wonderful drives into the surrounding National Parks and Nature Reserves are available to the visitor who wants to appreciate nature at its best.
One such drive is to the Natural Arch, located near the village of Chillingham. This natural arch is a result of erosion over time of a soft layer of volcanic agglomerate covered by basalt. Water has eroded its way through and forms a beautiful natural arch. See also the Chillingham Trail Rides
Visit the Tweed Regional Art Gallery and the museum or just relax in one of the many clubs located in Murwillumbah or you can take the scenic drive west and visit the Community of Nimbin.
