Murwillumbah is located in the heart of Tweed Valley, a short drive from Tweed Heads and the Pacific Highway. It is surrounded by the remnant rim of the Mt Warning volcano on the banks of the Tweed River. The town is renowned for its attractive scenery and is often referred to as the “prettiest town in Australia�. As such it offers a wonderful escape from the high intesity tourist bussel of the Gold Coast.

Brunswick Heads is a coastal fishing village characterised by beautiful beaches and sparkling waterways. Situated at the mouth of the Brunswick River, Brunswick Heads has its own fishing fleet and boat harbour. The harbour is situated to the north of the town beside the Brunswick-Byron Fishermen’s Co-operative where fresh local seafood can be purchased daily. Locals and tourists enjoy water sports including surfing, swimming, charter fishing, snorkelling and boating. Mullumbimby
Mullumbimby or “Mullum� to locals, is just up the track from Byron Bay, and is the seat of the Byron Shire Council. This is a traditional Australian rural community that has long survived and prospered on dairying, beef, wool and small cropping.
Macadamia Plantations, bush tucker agriculture, farm forestry and nature based tourism are thriving new enterprises, while new capital investment is revitilizing the retail precinct, with eateries and new age retail outlets adding a touch of colour to the laid back atmosphere.
Accommodation is limited to a pet friendly guesthouse, hotels and motels in town, while an extensive choice of B&Bs and guesthouses can be found throughout the small settlements scattered along the country roads which wind between Mullum and Byron. (more…)

Woolgoolga

Woolgoolga
Woolgoolga is an interesting town with a good beach. Just a short drive north of Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga (Woopi to the locals) offers a great holiday stopover. Located mostly on the eastern side of the Pacific Highway, between the highway and the sea, this paradise is not just a beach front holiday spot but an arts and craft centre with many local artists.
This holiday place is ideal for the family with top class accommodation without the hustle of most tourist centres. The population includes around 10 per cent Sikh, so temples and Indian women in traditional dress make this town feel a little different. There appears to be racial harmony, but the two communities have little in common apart from geography. Marriages are mostly arranged in the traditional Indian manner.

Macksville is a nice town on the Nambucca River on the way to Taylors Arm where the Cosmopolitan Hotel claims the fame of being the ‘Pub with No Beer’. Nambucca Heads is a delightful spot for boating and watersports, and has the only island in the country set aside for a golf course, the Stuart Island Golf Club.
